Simplify Shopping For Your Wedding Dress

Simplify Shopping For Your Wedding Dress

Choosing the right wedding dress. This is my simplified how-to guide on choosing the dress that will be perfect for you.

Do Some Research

Gather some intel. Browse online to see what you like and what you don’t like. Have an idea of what you want before you set foot into the shop. This will make the process easier on everyone involved. There is a myriad of different styles so it pays to have some prior knowledge. More importantly, tap into to yourself and envision the perfect dress for the day. Envision how you will be looking walking down the aisle, standing side by side and then making the vows. This may sound a little airy-fairy but believe me, it works like a charm. A little imagination is a godsend.

Know Your Body

You know your body shape best and you know what works and what doesn’t. If you don’t, think about the features that you would like your dress to compliment and maybe hide. Different designers have different styles and will fit your body in different ways. Often designers will have a variety of shaped models so you can get a clear indication of how the dress will look on your body. This can also be linked back to the research phase of the wedding dress shopping phase.

Always look for comfort as well as style and you don’t want to have to keep adjusting your wedding dress when you’re at the altar. So when you are trying wedding dresses be sure to walk around in them and even sit down so you know how the dress will fit and feel on the day.

Call Ahead

Call the bridal store ahead of time so they will be ready for you when you come in and have a range of dresses prepared for you to try on. They may even have a glass of champagne for you and girls on arrival. When you call ahead rattle off some designers that you like such Maggie Sottero or Provonias. This will give the attendant an idea of the design and style that you like. It’s also a good idea to make an itinerary and call multiple shops ahead so you go from one to another on a loose schedule. You might get lucky and find the perfect dress in the first shop. Then again it could take many shops and many days to find one. Just be prepared and go with your heart.

Take Your Time

Take your time when trying things on. There is no rush to find the perfect dress at the first store. Be sure to shop around and if you’re not 100 percent sure on something, don’t buy it. I’m sure your girlfriends will help you in the decision process but in the end, it all comes down to you so listen to your gut and if it feels right, go for it, baby.

Taking your time and making a day of it can be fun. It’s a good excuse to get the girls together and go shopping while catching up on some gossip over a champagne breakfast and then onto to some shopping.  Having the girls around for second opinions will help you make the right decision. It’s important to choose who embark on this adventure with. Preferably you will invite your friends that are competent and have some sense of style.

Money Talks

The budget will be a factor when it comes to purchasing your dress. Consider your budget and start low and you can always stretch it out if a dress catches your eye. Remember that you only get married once. Well, maybe not anymore. But it’s a nice thought. You’re already shelling out for a photographer and all the rest so a few extra bucks on a dress that you really want makes sense. And that’s it… It’s my simple yet effective guide to finding the perfect dress for your wedding. In the end, it’s your decision and you’re the only one that can make. But a little help from a stranger never hurt anyone and hopefully this post will make buying your dress all the easier. The main thing is to remain calm, try to have as much fun with it as possible and follow your heart to finding the dress of your dreams.
